Sterling silver is more durable, it is the crystal that is more delicate here.
I recommend you to store your jewelry in its original packaging / a soft pouch to avoid damages. This also helps to reduce exposure to sunlight, excessive heat and steam, which can fade color of the crystal.
Try to avoid impact with hard surfaces, as this can cause scratches and chips to the crystal and the plating. Further I advise you to take your jewelry off before showering or swim. Avoid contact with cosmetics and perfume to help your piece live a long life.
Do not clean the crystal with any kind of jewelry cleaners. This can damage both the plating and the crystal. Polish the crystal with a polishing cloth if needed, and give your sterling silver a simple polish if dark coating appears.
